Iain Morpeth of Ropes & Gray and Tim Musgrave of Milestones recently climbed Pen y Fan in the Brecon Beacons.
With successful treks to both North and South Poles under his belt, hill walking in the Brecon Beacons is pretty tame for Iain. But it was a great opportunity for Tim to catch up with him properly, without the clock ticking or Iain having to rush off to the next client meeting.
Allowing himself the time to think about the future has served Iain well. Not only is he clear on the legacy he wants to achieve for himself and the firm, but he also has one or two future projects in mind that he’d like to pursue in due course. These he feels able to consider without pressure, not least as he has organised himself well ahead of time.
So as they climbed the highest peak in south Wales, a little under 3,000ft, Tim and Iain had the opportunity to really put the world to rights, as well as reflect on how the first stage of the programme had gone and what should now follow.
Dinner at the wonderful Walnut Tree near Abergavenny was a great end to the day, although it did rather counterbalance the benefits of a strenuous climb!
